Project Manager

Summary

The Project Manager is a key member of Fusion’s US based Operations team. This role is responsible for managing customer driven custom packaging development projects as well as providing technical support and expertise to customer support personnel in their respective branch office.  The Project Manager oversees the design and engineering phase as well as the tool development phase of their assigned projects providing detailed management and involvement from project conception to product launch.  The Project Manager is responsible for managing and organizing all timing, milestones, technical information, and project documentation to ensure flawless execution.  Expectations include communicating daily with both the US-based development and engineering teams and with China based packaging engineers and operations personnel. The overall success of the role will be measured by ensuring that products meet or exceed expectations from a cost, timing, customer requirement, and specification standpoint.

The Project Manager will be an integral part of the branch customer execution team, which also includes designers, engineers, sales executives, and account managers. This team is responsible for collaborating to fulfill customer opportunities.

The Project Manager will interface with all cross-functional Fusion teams to understand and establish product requirements and ensure that Fusion creates designs that are not only beautiful and able to be manufactured, but also fully meet customer expectations. The Project Manager will work very closely with China-based Packaging Engineers to ensure customer objectives are met quickly and to work through all issues and solve complex problems that arise throughout the implementation process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, issue, and maintain component specifications; Writes all specification documents and oversees approval by Package Engineering department and customers; Requests and understands details of decoration options for all components in development
  • Develop and maintain detailed timeline for assigned projects and all project related tasks; Ensure each step of agreed timeline is being committed to and completed
  • Anticipate potential issues that may occur and communicate with the proper departments to create an appropriate corrective action plan; Offer recommendations and provide solutions to any design and engineering challenges that may arise when specification cannot be met; Manage and assist in resolution of any project scope changes
  • Ensure proper mold and unit costing is provided to Fusion pricing team and provide support in understanding and navigating questions related to costing;
  • Manage technical drawings and dieline requests and engineering approvals; Manage validation process to ensure Fusion China team completes requested tasks as committed
  • Lead US project kickoff and China Engineering project kickoff meetings and ensure all appropriate documents are completed in a timely manner, this will include calls scheduled early mornings and evenings due to time difference
  • Interact daily with Sales, Account Managers, and other key project stakeholders to ensure clear communication throughout the development and implementation process
  • Maintain all required project documentation
  • Lead or participate in other assigned projects as needed
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or associated field from an accredited college or university
  • Must be bilingual in English and Mandarin both written and verbal
  • Minimum two years’ experience managing complex manufacturing projects
  • Minimum two years experience communicating directly with Asian-based factory or Asian-based contract manufacturing facilities
  • Strong communication skills: Communicate with Engineering Director and Packaging Engineers in China, Sales and Account Mangers in U.S. and a variety of customer in the U.S.
  • Intermediate experience with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Beauty and/or cosmetic industry experience highly preferred
  • Experience with timeline software preferred
  • Domestic travel two to four times per year for 2 – 3 days at a time and International travel (China) one to two times per year for 1 – 2 weeks at a time (travel demands may vary based on project assignments)

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment and physical demands are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in an office setting.

The employee is frequently required to be in a stationary position and regularly use the computer keyboard and mouse and will view the computer monitor frequently. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and reach with hands. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
