Product Development Manager


The Product Development Manager will be responsible for a number of deliverables across the Product Development lifecycle, including formula development, project tracking and launch support. The role will support a new division, Fusion Beauty Lab. The Fusion Beauty Lab division is bringing to market full turn-key beauty solutions to existing and new customers.

This role will work closely with marketing, sales, account management, operations, and design teams to ensure project launches are successful. Additionally, this role will work collaboratively with Project Managers through the project lifecycle and will assist in setting new product direction (positioning, claims, packaging, design).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • In a collaborate environment, work closely with Executive Director of Product Development on the development of products within all beauty categories
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Design and Operations, ensuring timely execution on all product launches; assist in coordinating, track and communicate approved product ideas from concept to finished good
  • Kick off initial project plan, set initial time lines then hand off plan to Program Manager to further complete
  • Track and organize lab submissions and product testing feedback; label and file submissions according to lab, pilot and production
  • Coordinate and oversee testing with third party testing facility; coordinates and oversees testing with internal packaging lab
  • Report on new launches and keep abreast of new launches domestically and international
  • Assist with development of customer support materials and marketing materials
  • Attend meetings with manufacturers to review new formula concepts, trends and discuss new ingredient stories/applications/technologies; assists in coordinating with manufacturers to update standards as needed on all existing product
  • Assist with the maintenance of the existing products, closely reviewing formula or shade, packaging and overall quality/aesthetic
  • Compliance: assist in collecting/receiving mandatory compliance and regulatory documents for foreign countries
  • Assist in planning and attending all Trade show sponsored by company; Attend beauty industry events and trade shows as needed
  • Track and analyze competitive and market activity; Assist in identifying new short term and long-term opportunities through competitive analysis, industry studies, sales data, as well as SWOT analyses
  • Travel – Travel as needed to local tri state labs; North American trade shows; occasionally to the Dallas and NYC offices (Total travel – about 10% the first year, up to 20% thereafter.)
  • Lead or participate in other assigned projects
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Fashion, Marketing or related fields from an accredited college or university
  • Three or more years Product Development experience, color cosmetics experience preferable
  • A strong aptitude and passion for color and artistry
  • Prior Project Management/Leadership and time tracking experience strongly desired
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Ability to travel to area labs, trade shows and to Fusion’s offices in Dallas and New York
